Time to shake your faith?

FOR once, the RC Archdiocese of Liverpool is not under fire for downsizing its property porfolio of precious churches.

Feeding the lions...

There are complaints that Liverpool Cathedral’s new cafeteria, rather more closely integrated than its predecessor into the main body of the church with a balcony, means that chattering, plus the clatter of crockery and cutlery, can be heard during services.

Dwelling over footfall...

NOW that the city centre skyline is blighted by cranes, the £900m Liverpool One development has begun the search for a marketing director to promote the development.
The shopping centre with the loftiest description this side of the Atlantic – “Europe’s largest city centre urban regeneration scheme” – aims to “significantly increase the footfalls and dwell time” in Liverpool city centre.

Frontline advertising

MERSEYSIDE’S top cop Bernard Hogan-Howe has asked the powers-that-be in blue for permission to use private sector money to pay for new police officers in 2008.

Perhaps Liverpool One should spend its marketing director salary on policing instead – its logo stamped on officers’ helmets would be a novel advertising trick.

Elgar enthusiasts and Fauré fanatics are no longer segregated for their superior musical taste.

Life is bright in the soon-to-be Capital of Culture.

My blood is boiling

MANY of the services at the former Walton Hospital have been transferred to Aintree Hospital, but the anti-coagulant clinic remains at Walton, much to the relief of one of Mr Brocklebank’s aged retainers, who must have his blood checked there regularly.

On his last visit, he was gratified to find dozens of elegant new seats for those awaiting test results. Good news?
