Frontline advertising

MERSEYSIDE’S top cop Bernard Hogan-Howe has asked the powers-that-be in blue for permission to use private sector money to pay for new police officers in 2008.
They are needed to cope with the influx of visitors lured by the promise of jam butties and white pop at the giant Capital of Culture jamboree.

Perhaps Liverpool One should spend its marketing director salary on policing instead – its logo stamped on officers’ helmets would be a novel advertising trick.
