Another royal snub

HARD on the heels of the appalling snub dealt by Liverpool Culture Co to the city's greatest living benefactor, solicitor Rex Makin, at the reopening of St George's Hall when he was not invited to meet the Prince of Wales, Mr Brocklebank learns of another disgraceful breach of protocol.

Cllr Joe Anderson, leader of Liverpool's opposition Labour group, was omitted from the official line-up to greet HRH, in breach of Royal protocol. An epistle is winging from Cllr Anderson to Liverpool chief executive Colin Hilton, demanding to know under whose authority this lapse occurred.

Perhaps Cllr Anderson should have taken his mother along? As readers will recall, Colin's mum had lunch with Prince Charles and everything. Mr Brocklebank is forced to join others like Mr Makin's best friend Anne "Strongest Link" Robinson and call for a third reopening event to correct this fiasco of etiquette. Surely the Duchess of York will be available? Or Lady Doreen "I've done this already in the 1980s" Jones?
